Fred Clarke - B785 - B class (Atlantic 75)

The Atlantic 75 is a rigid inflatable lifeboat, it has a manually operated self-righting mechanism and is capable of being beached in an emergency without sustaining damage to engines or steering gear. The Atlantic 75 can be operated safely in daylight in a force 6/7 and at night in a force 5/6.

Littlestone-on-Sea's new Atlantic 75 lifeboat to be named 'Fred Clarke'

The naming of Littlestone-on-Sea's new lifeboat will take place at The Lifeboat House, The Greens, Coast Drive at 3pm on Saturday, 31 August.  The Atlantic 75 inshore lifeboat was provided by the generous donation of Mr and Mrs Roy Glossop of Worthing, in memory of Mrs Glossop's late husband Fred Clarke.

Mr Glossop first approached the RNLI in 1991, soon after his wife died, wishing to make a donation in her memory.  The Atlantic 75 lifeboat Thelma Glossop went on station at Brighton in 1997.  Mr Glossop has remarried and his present wife, Jean Glossop, decided she would like to commemorate her first husband through the funding of an Atlantic 75 lifeboat.  The boat Fred Clarke went on station at Littlestone-on-Sea earlier this year.
